Volkswagen offers two large SUVs in 2022 which have a lot in common but still keep enough differences to attract different crowds.
The style
The most noticeable difference between the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas and the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is the style, since the Atlas is a traditional large SUV while the Atlas Cross Sport is a coupe-like version of it. This means that the Atlas Cross Sport is more orientated towards buyers that prioritize the appearance of their vehicle and who want to stand out from the other drivers on the road. This distinctiveness is achieved by the Atlas Cross Sport due to its lower roofline that adds an air of sportiness and exclusivity to the already elegant lines of the regular Atlas.
The practical side
The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas and the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport also differ in terms of practicality since the Atlas comes standard with a third row, which is not available on the Atlas Cross Sport. This means that the Atlas can transport six or seven passengers depending on the trim level while the Atlas Cross Sport is limited to five. This difference also holds true for the cargo capacity, since the lower roof of the Atlas Cross Sport reduces its load space slightly compared to the maximum of 2,741 liters found in the Atlas. Nonetheless, the 2,203 liters offered by the Atlas Cross Sport are more than most of its competitors in the large two row SUV segment.
The personalisation options
The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas and the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport also stand apart due to the personalisation options they offer. Indeed, the Atlas is offered with seven exterior paint colours while the Atlas Cross Sport is available with eight choices due to the addition of Pure Grey. Inside, the differences continue since apart from the black colour scheme, which both models offer, the Atlas can also be had with a dark brown or a light beige interior. In the Atlas Cross Sport, Red or a darker shade of beige can be selected instead.
