A Look at the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas

The Volkswagen Atlas receives a substantial facelift for the 2024 model year which is more than skin-deep. Here is a quick look at what changes and what remains the same.

A new single powertrain

The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas abandons the previous four-cylinder and VR6 engines in favor of a new 2.0L turbocharged unit which is more efficient and has a higher output than both. Indeed, this new four-cylinder engine delivers 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, which is about the same power and more torque than last year’s VR6 engine. Despite the power level being similar and the towing capacity remaining the same at 5,000 pounds, this new engine will be more efficient than the VR6 due to its modern design and its technologies such as direct fuel injection and turbocharging. Paired with this engine are an 8-speed automatic transmission and the 4Motion all-wheel drive system as standard.

A revised interior

The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas receives a new interior which is more luxurious and made with higher-quality materials than before. This can be seen by looking at the dashboard and the center console which are now trimmed in leatherette, or by sitting on the newly standard ventilated seats which feature a quilted design on the range-topping model. Also standard are the heated steering wheel, the Climatronic automatic climate control system, voice controls, and a height-adjustable passenger seat. In addition, the leather upholstery and the heated rear seats are available one trim lower than before. The new dashboard also features a 12-inch infotainment touch screen and every version is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. New illuminated dash and door décor panels are part of the available enhanced ambient lighting system that features a selection of 30 colours.

A refreshed exterior

The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas is of course also refreshed on the outside, with a new front end that features revised LED headlamps which now feature adaptive lighting as standard and a new grille that helps differentiate the Atlas and the Atlas Cross Sport from the front. At both ends, every trim level except the entry-level version is equipped with an illuminated logo and a lightbar that connects both lighting units. A larger spoiler at the rear and new wheel designs complete the list of the more important changes made to the Atlas for 2024.
