The Elantra, with its 2.0L engine that outputs 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, has practically the same efficiency rating as the Jetta with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Jetta outputs more for less.
The 2022 Jetta GLI makes a statement
Both the Jetta and Elantra also offer models with even more turbo power. The Jetta GLI unleashes a turbo 2.0L that reaches 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This pushes the compact design to new driving levels, making the Jetta GLI an exhilarating experience. Each model has a standard six-speed transmission for amazing input, and you can opt for a quick-shifting seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic.
The Elantra N Line is the brand's competitor to the GLI, but it doesn't quite match up. With 27 less horsepower and over 60 lb-ft less of torque, you will not be in the same class as the GLI. There is also the Elantra N, but this model sacrifices so much comfort for the few horses it adds over the GLI that it’s not worth being considered.
